Ash & Lacy announce new strategic partnership with Saint-Gobain in South Africa

An exciting new partnership between two market leading companies follows the successful launch of the Ashgrid roofing system to the South African Construction market in 2014. Ashgrid represents a revolutionary approach to over-roofing that delivers significant thermal benefits in addition to providing a safe and durable long-term solution for refurbishment projects. Since 2014, Ashgrid has become the roofing system of choice for many major infrastructure projects across the country, supplying approximately 300,000 linear metres to notable clients including: BMW, Nissan, Pick ‘n Pay, Growthpoint Properties, MSC Shipping, and from now on, the systems will be exclusively distributed by Saint-Gobain’s team of experts.

 The name Ash & Lacy has been synonymous with product innovation and high standards of engineering for over 140 years. From very humble beginnings, Ash and Lacy has grown into a company with a group annual turnover in excess of £50 million, now employing over 350 staff across 6 office locations in the UK. South Africa and continues to provide support locally to market & promote envelope solutions in the region. For the Construction sector, Ash & Lacy manufactures a diverse range of engineered facade and roofing systems, complemented by a comprehensive range of fasteners, load bearing components and accessories. In-house testing facilities, as well as design and engineering analysis capabilities ensure that all Ash & Lacy products are at the forefront of technical performance, and often exceed industry standards worldwide.

Ash & Lacy’s expertise allowed for an in-depth thermal study to be carried out on various roof assemblies that were being used in the South African market. The study revealed numerous shortcomings in thermal design and led to the revision of SANS 10400-XA which is due for release towards the latter part of 2021. The new revision makes spacer systems mandatory in the majority of building occupancy categories to prevent compression of bulk insulation.
