Environmental Commitment

The world is currently involved in a major energy challenge: fossil fuels are becoming scarcer and more expensive to produce, and are furthermore responsible for climate change. Isover`s insulation solutions help to reduce energy consumption in buildings saving fossil fuels while assisting in reducing global warming, acid rain and smog.

Buildings account for 40% of energy consumption in most countries, yet their potential to save on energy is huge. By using adapted insulation and energy savings techniques, between 70% to 90% of a building’s energy consumption for heating or cooling can be saved.

Energy efficiency improvements have been one of Isover`s main focuses for many years and in comparing the tons of glasswool produced in 2007 to the production in 2000, energy consumption has dropped by 20% and so has CO2 emissions. We have lowered our water consumption per ton of glasswool produced by 30% between 1999 and 2007 by the use of closed circuit systems and investing in new equipment that consumes less water,

We constantly make improvements to our environmental management system and estimate that by the end of 2010, 80% of our global production sites will be ISO 14001 certified. Our research and development efforts help us to create more sustainable processes and products.

By using recycled materials, collecting any dust generated, treating fumes, and recycling water, our production sites do their utmost to reduce any discharges during the manufacture of glasswool.

Our patented process means that thanks to glasswool`s elastic properties, products can be compressed by a factor of up to 10 which saves on logistics and decreases transport costs.

Isover`s typical insulation products save more than 100 times the energy consumed and CO2 emitted in their manufacture, transport and disposal.
