KULITE

Kulite is a rigid laminated expanded polystyrene insulation board consisting of a core of Sagex flame retardant expanded polystyrene (EPS) faced on both sides with various combinations of reflective aluminium foil and lacquered foil facings.

All Sagex EPS used in Kulite is flame retardant which causes the material to shrink away from an ignition source reducing the risk of further burning.

The EPS used in Kulite manufacturing has a density of 16 kg/m3.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The Springs EPS Facility is ISO 9001:2008 accredited.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
  • Life long energy savings
  • Lightweight & easy to handle
  • CFC free
  • Kulite is generally unaffected by extreme temperature variations
    (- 150˚C to 70˚C)
FIRE PROPERTIES
25 mm EPS with an aluminium foil backing and white lacquered Alufoil facing as tested in accordance with SANS 428 protocal achieved a class B/B1 rating.
THERMAL PROPERTIES
Thermal conductivity at 10˚C = 0.036 W/mK. Thermal resistance value (Rval) = 0.69 m2K/W for 25 mm sheet.
ACOUSTIC PROPERTIES
EPS is not known as a good sound absorbing product due to its closed cell structure and low density. Isover offers a range of alternative acoustical insulation products if required.
APPLICATIONS
  • Commercial & industrial building insulation
  • Roof & sidewall insulation
  • Installed under or over purlin in T sections
  • New buildings or retrofit
DURABILITY
  • Odourless, inert and fully compatible with all standard building materials & components
  • Will not promote corrosion of steel, copper or aluminium
  • Will not sustain vermin
  • Will not breed or promote fungi, mould or bacteria
  • Non-hygroscopic
  • Rot proof
PACKAGING
Polyethylene enclosed.
TOOLS NEEDED FOR INSTALLATION
Roofing & ceiling tools applicable.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Over purlins
  1. Kulite boards are fixed simultaneously with roofing sheets and must be supported in the lengths by T sections.
  2. End joints must be butted together on top of the purlin and the sheet lengths will be determined by the purlin spacing.
  3. Should the board extend across a purlin, the board should be cut through on the purlin forming a joint along the length of the purlin.
HANDLING & STORAGE
Kulite should always be stored under cover from the elements, transported in bundles, or carried individually on edge. Excess bending will damage decorative finishes. As per all items in storage, fire safety regulations should always be considered. All health & safety regulations should be adhered to and complied with.
ARCHITECTURAL SPECIFICATION
Install 25 mm thick rigid “Kulite” as an aesthetic over purlin insulation with a foil facing. Install as per manufacturer’s specifications.
